It's that time, again! Time to get our new Kroger Neighbor-to-Neighbor bar
code so that shopping at Kroger stores benefits the animals in Baytown
Humane's foster program.
Proceeds from Kroger's program in 2009 were
down, but still brought in $2,643.11. Not to
be sneezed at!! Especially, since it doesn't cost anyone a penny to
participate! But, we sure would like to see it go up for 2010!
If it was possible, things have gotten even tougher economically and for the
animals. Donations are down, and not only does the 'stray' population never
end; but now, so many people are losing their homes or moving to less
expensive places and relinquishing their family pets or just simply
abandoning them when they move. We've got a puppy right now that was
rescued from a backyard 5 days after the people had moved and left her in
the backyard to suffer whatever her fate happened to be.
Her name is Sadie, but the first three letters really described her
best....
Your participation in the Neighbor-to-Neighbor program is really easy to
do. It only requires one deliberate action on your part. Show the bar
code to the Kroger cashier when you are checking out. The cashier will scan
it and scan your Kroger Plus card, linking the two until next April 30th.
After that one action, you will be helping BHS every time you shop at
Kroger!
The Bar Code is at the bottom of this letter to you from Kroger. Please
print out the letter and just take the whole thing to Kroger when you go
next time. They can scan the bar code directly from the letter. If for
some reason you cannot print the letter, let us know and we will mail you a
card with the bar code on it. However, please remember that postage is
high, and it will really save BHS money, if you can print the letter from
your own computer.
Kroger will scan your bar code now, but accumulation of funds doesn't start
until July 1st. We are hoping many of you will be linked before you buy
supplies for your 4th of July cookout! Your card can be linked to BHS at
any Kroger store in the State of Texas!
Thank you so much for your continued support! BHS exists ONLY because of
the kindness and generosity of its membership, adopters and supporters! We
aren't the largest group in the Houston area, but we are well respected
among our peers and no one works harder for the unwanted, sick and injured
animals out there.
Please help us by linking your Kroger card to BHS, and by then handing your
letter or card bearing the BHS Bar Code to a family member, someone at
church, your neighbor or even the person in line behind you at the check-out
stand! Every purchase helps an animal!!

Thank
You!!
