These little girls were
pulled from Harris County Animal Control as their time was up and they
had no adopter. They have been together throughout their whole ordeal,
and are very bonded to one another. However, not to the exclusion of
other canine friends! They each interact very well with the other dogs
in the foster home, but they always wind up back together when it's time
to rest or sleep. Little Casey had luxating patellas and had to undergo
surgery to correct those. Abby was her comfort and nurse-maid through
the recovery process. They are devoted to one another, and we are
looking for a home that will be glad to have them both. They each have
been vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and kept on regular monthly
heartworm prevention to keep them heartworm free. It's hard to say
which is the sweeter of the two. They are both as loveable as they can
be! They are cute and playful, but will cuddle at the drop of a hat!
They are accustomed to cats, too, as there are two in the foster home.
Casey is the dark one and is thought to be approximately 5-6 years of
age and weighs about 10 pounds. Her legs have healed perfectly, and she
manages stairs like a champ. Abby, the precious little doe-eyed one is
about 4-5 years of age, and weighs in around 5 pounds. If you can
imagine sharing life with these precious little souls, please apply
Adoption Application or
is so named because she spent the first five or six months of her
life tied to the back of a truck in an alley between
commercial buildings. She had no shelter other than the
truck itself, and she was not provided water and food
regularly. But, Allie is now living large in a foster home
where she is treated with the respect she always deserved!
She is a loving dog, perhaps a Pit mix, of less than a year
of age. She has now been fully vetted, spayed, and microchipped. She coming along very nicely with basic
commands and leash-training. Her beautiful coat is
surprisingly soft and those eyes will pierce your
heart! Allie does well with
the other dogs in the foster home and she's great with
humans, too. We don't know about cats, since we've not had
an opportunity to introduce her to one! If you feel you can
continue with Allie's good life and share yours with her,
please fill out the adoption application! She is a
wonderful dog who wants so badly to learn and to please!
She will enhance your life!
Allie is happy for hugs from her new mom!
miniature Poodle mix is named Angel because that's the name
that fits her best! She is an absolute Love-Bug, all dressed
in her white corduroy! =) Angel is a mature young lady who
is fully vaccinated and spayed. Since her teeth and ears
have been cleaned she is feeling especially beautiful and
feisty! Angel gets along great with the other small dogs in
the home, and she is house-trained, as well! If you are
looking for a sweet cuddler who has a cute, playful
personality, then look no further! We have an Angel for you.

is Annabelle! A precious little
Schnauzer-mix girl who is estimated to
be 1-2 years of age, weighs 21 pounds,
and is ready for adoption! Annabelle is
playful and very smart! She is
housetrained and knows how to use a
doggie door. She is good with other dogs
and children; and while she has not been
around cats, she did see one at the vet's
office and didn't show much interest.
She likes to play fetch and also
entertains herself with toys and chew
bones. She likes to cuddle and give
kisses while watching TV with you.
Basically, Annabelle is an icon for the
terrier personality...goofy, fun-loving,
intelligent, energetic and affectionate,
all wrapped up in one cute little
package. Annabelle is in a foster home
in the Austin area, but transport can be
arranged for the right home!
Annabelle is thrilled to have found her best
This darling little boy is thought to be
a Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix. Can't know for
sure, but we do know that he was
relinquished by a neglectful (at the
least!) home who decided that he was
just taking up too much space! They
needed that corner where he was kept
24/7 in a small cage, because a
boyfriend was moving into the
house. When BHS went to pick him up, we
found Andy was extremely underweight,
his coat was brittle and dry, toenails
grown all the way around and back into
his feet, and his spirit was totally
broken. This precious soul had given
up, he showed no emotion whatsoever, and
was just waiting to die.
has taken quite a while and lots of love
from his foster family, but Andy has now
learned how to play, to crave human
interaction, and to show happiness. He
has come to love life and has a new and
happy spirit. He has gained weight all
the way up to 11 pounds, his coat is
long and silky, he has received all
vaccinations, had his teeth cleaned (and
toenails cut!), been neutered and house
trained. We are looking for a family
for Andy who will love and cherish him
for the rest of his life and continue to
nurture that loving spirit he is showing
now! He deserves that, for sure; and it
would be even more perfect if there is a
small dog or two for Andy to play with.
This dog has lessons to teach us - I
think "forgiveness" is the one he is
Andy with his fabulous new family!!
is a calm, quiet Chihuahua, about 2 years old, who LOVES
to snuggle and be cuddled. She gets along fine with
other small dogs, but wouldn't mind being the 'only
child' in the home! Annie is a small dog, at about six
pounds, so she's not into roughhousing with children!
This perfect little girl is housetrained, fully
vaccinated, spayed, and being kept on regular heartworm
prevention. Her foster home has noticed that even
though she's Very affectionate, she will not give
kisses! So, for those of you who don't like licks in
the face...here's the girl for you! Don't let this
little darling slip through your fingers! Apply Now!
Annie with her new family!
Mom died suddenly earlier this year. She was
taken in by a family member whose own dog
attacked Betsy and mauled her severely. She is
recovered, now; but, she was so sad and lonely
to be in a place she didn't feel safe, and she
didn't understand why her Mom wasn't there,
anymore. She was relinquished to BHS, where she
has found safe haven until she can find a new,
permanent home. She is no longer fearful, and
gets along fine with the other dogs although she
doesn't interact with them often. Betsy needs a
quiet, loving home in which to fully recuperate
from the hard blows that life has dealt her in
just a matter of months. She is spayed and
current on her vaccinations and fully recovered
from the attack. She's a mature Beagle/Pug mix
who is quiet, gentle, housetrained and not
destructive at all. She only wants to love and
be loved. Please consider giving Betsy a safe
and loving home for the rest of her life.
Having Betsy around gives a calming, grounded
feeling of "everything is going to be all right.
We have each other, and that's what counts!"
=) Consider giving Betsy that feeling, too, and
apply to adopt her today!

Just look at this
precious little Yorkie girl!! Bailey has had a hard life, but things
are looking up for her, now! She was rescued, literally, from the side
of Interstate 10. Her counterpart had already been killed and she was
standing close by his body. But, now, she is safe and secure in a BHS
Foster Home where she has known love and caring like she never imagined
possible. At approximately 10 pounds and 4 - 5 years, Bailey has also
been fully vetted and spayed. All she needs to complete this streak of
good fortune is a great family with which to share the entire rest of
her life. She is a very happy little thing who plays well with the
other small dogs in the home, but is glad to cuddle up and watch TV,
Bailey is home now!
is a Chihuahua mix little guy who is 6 to 7 years of age. He
doesn't meet a stranger, human or canine. He loves to play
with the other dogs in the foster home and he plays hard.
He's OK with cats if they don't arch, hiss and run...he
will give chase if they do that; but, a cat who is
accustomed to dogs and doesn't run is just sniffed and left
alone. Boogie likes to burrow under the cover with his
foster parents at night and he sleeps the whole night
through. He likes to be held and will eat as many baby
carrots (and anything else!) as you hand out. Boogie is a
crooner! He does bark occasionally, but that's not
what we are talking about...he really tries to vocalize his
opinion on many things. It's a guttural sound, not a whine
or a bark, but he's really trying to find his voice!!
=) He will sing to you, too! This little guy throws back
his head and joins in song with anyone who feels like
singing! He will give the strongest singer some
competition! Boogie is a cute guy who is full of
personality and affection, and who needs a loving home to
call his own. He's housetrained, fully vaccinated, neutered
and is receiving regular monthly heartworm prevention to
keep him heartworm free. Boogie is a good boy - not your
everyday sort of Chi, but his own little man! If you think
you'd enjoy him as much as we do, don't let this opportunity
to share life with him pass you by! Apply for him today!

Hank was his
original name, but it has morphed into "Bubba" these days!
=) This sweet German Shepherd mix puppy was
rescued after being trapped in a thicket of bushes and
brambles. He is now approximately 4 months old,
weighs in at about 25 pounds, and has been fully vetted. He will be
neutered in a few weeks, and before adoption. Bubba gets
along well with other dogs, and he is extremely lovable!
He will cuddle and he will play in equal portions! He's
coming along with housetraining; although, at his young age
he still has a few accidents. He is looking for a home
willing to let him thrive as a puppy, and teach him the
ropes for becoming a cherished family member. If you think
you may have the perfect home for Bubba, please complete the
online pet adoption application.

darling is named Bunny! Her coat is every bit as soft as a
bunny's, and she's been known to do the "Bunny Hop" when she
gets excited, like when her food is being prepared or her
humans come home. This precious, sweet baby is very
well-behaved, not destructive and totally housetrained.
She's good on leash and looks forward to her walks. But, be
warned! - Bunny has a fetish for cows! LOL!! Her foster
mom says she can get really stubborn when she sees a cow on
their walks, because she REALLY wants to go investigate that
creature - every time!! Even though she loves her walks,
and plays well with her roomies, Bunny is very much a cuddly
lap-dog. She will sit on your lap for hours; but, for
sleep, she prefers her own bed in the room with her humans.
She likes to 'den' under the blanket and sleeps the night
through with no trouble. So, this little girl of ~3 years
and 14 pounds has been fully vaccinated, wormed, and
spayed. She has everything going for her - looks,
personality, manners, and good health! This one is a true
cream-puff; and, if you are interested in adopting her, you
should not waste time in filling out the application for

a whopping four pounds, little Butters is making a Big
Splash on the scene! This little guy is so cute, you may
look for the wind-up key!! He's just plain fun to look
at!! Butters does great with other dogs and loves humans,
too! He enjoys snuggling, especially under a blanket! He
loves his toys, and has learned to retrieve. His Foster Mom
says he is very obedient and was easily house & leash
trained. At a guesstimated of age between 1 and 1- 1/2
years, little Butters has been fully vaccinated,
neutered, is heartworm Negative and receiving regular
heartworm prevention! If you think that you have a great
place for him in your home and your heart, please apply to

that life offers in the way of a forever family and a great
home! Besides, everything is better with a little Butter!!
Chuey is a tiny little
guy, weighing in at a little over 3 pounds!! He was rescued from
the streets and is so grateful for that! This precious little boy
has been fully vaccinated and neutered. As you might expect, he's
more of a lap dog than a hunter; but, he does have his moments! He
plays well with other dogs, and he's getting to know cats, too! If
you are interested in adopting Chuey, please fill out an application

is Cinder. A beautiful Black Lab mix who has beaten the
odds and is here to enjoy every last minute of life! This
sweet, sweet girl is very friendly and full of life. She
gets along great with other dogs, and even cats! She lives
in a foster home with lots of cats, and they all have come
to love Cinder like their own labby-baby. This beauty is
thought to be only about a year-and-a-half to two years of
age. Cinder was hit by a car and then picked up by animal
control in Chambers County. Thanks to their willingness to
give this dog a chance for life, they allowed BHS to "pull"
her and get her the medical attention she needed. And,
just look at this sleek, shining example of joy before you
now! Cinder has recovered from her injuries, been
fully vetted, housetrained, and spayed. Just add a
good home and you have a perfectly wonderful success story!
If you can perpetuate her good fortune, please apply for
Cinder now 'Trudy' with her new family,
including Bailey on the left, and four cats!
Trudy is a happy dog, she loves cats and
people that love her back! =)
is a tiny little thing who has a Big heart full of love and
kisses! She is a bit shy at first, but who wouldn't be if
you weighed only 5 pounds! Clara LOVES her walks on leash
and she's good with other small dogs... AND, she does OK
with cats! She LOVES her humans too! When her foster mom
comes home from work, she wags her little tail so fast that
her entire body wiggles; thus, giving her the nickname,
"Wiggle-Girl." She is a super snuggler, and that's about
her favorite thing in the world...snuggling with her human.
Clara has been fully vaccinated, spayed, and kept on regular
heartworm prevention to ensure she stays heartworm free.
If you think you can offer Clara a home worthy of her
virtues, please complete the application today! She is
