Why should I donate to Baytown Humane Society?
-
Every donation -- big or small -- gives hope, food, and medical care to lost, abandoned, homeless, desperate animals in your own community, and is tax-deductible. Your generosity allows BHS to do what we do.
-
Baytown Humane Society is an independent, community-focused charity. Every cent is used locally, rather than sent to a corporate organization.
-
There are no paid positions. 100% of the work is done by volunteers, so 100% of your money will benefit the animals.
-
Donors, like YOU, are a primary source of funding for Baytown Humane Society. Many times, the adoption fee doesn't even begin to cover the extensive veterinary cost sometimes associated with just just one animal.
Did you know...?
There are significant expenses incurred when many animals are rescued by BHS:
-
Veterinary wellness visit and exam $50-$100 (does not include further treatments or surgeries required for injured or sick animals)
-
Spaying or neutering $150-$300
-
Lab Tests, x-rays, ultrasounds $50-$350
-
Parvo/Distemper vaccination $25-$50 ×2
-
Rabies vaccination $15-$25
-
Heartworm test (for dogs) $25-$45
-
Feline Leukemia/FIV test (for cats) $30-$50
-
Flea/tick treatment $20-$60
-
Microchip $25-$65
-
Deworming $20-$50
-
Collar, leash and an identification tag $5-10 each
Well, you can see that the cost of just one rescued animal can quickly add up -- and we do this over and over every day.
